Description

Corcovado National Park is famous for holding 3% of the biodiversity on this side of the planet.

Famous for being–the Amazon of Costa Rica, the Corcovado National Park is the largest stronghold of primary forest on a Pacific coastline, and is famous for being “the most biologically intense place on Earth”.

It has a flora that adds thousands of species, many of which have a restricted distribution and that have disappeared in other regions, as well as the fauna that stands out because of the diversity of its species, even more so if we consider that a large number figure in the list of those in danger of extinction.

This place offers abundant tropical forests, cloud forests, swamp forests. It is one of the wettest areas of Costa Rica, which offers a great variety of flora and fauna. They have also discovered unique species of flora here. The virgin forests captivate visitors. It is an ideal place for nature lovers. There are more than 500 species of trees, 140 species of mammals, 367 species of birds, 40 species of freshwater fish and 117 species of amphibians registered in this area.


Corcovado National Park tour Details:

  • This tour departs by boat from two different spots(check the notes below to know about departure from Terraba-Sierpe Wetlands) the first departure point is  from Punta Uvita located at Marino Ballena National Park at 7:00 AM,and arrives approximately 1.5 hour later to San Pedrillo Ranger Station in Corcovado National Park. Our tour guide will bring information about security and a explain of the itinerary. As soon the boat arrives at Corcovado the guide will lead the group to the ranger station where there will be a time to get ready for  the hike. On the ranger station there are facilities like toilets and showers. The trails at San Pedrillo station are flat and easy for all types of people  however the tropical forest is warm during  the dry season ( December to April )  and  rainy from May to November . Hicking is on the different trails is about 3.5 hours time 
  •  After lunch get back the boat start heading back to Uvita beach at 2.30 pm and expected to arrive around 3.30 to 4.00 pm.During boat transit from Uvita beach to Corcovado National Park you may observe whales(if is season July to Octubrer also January to April), dolphins, turtles, marine birds and fantastic views of the southern pacific coast of Costa Rica.

Departure on boat by Terraba-Sierpe Wetlands is at 7:30 am , we offer this option in case of dont have a minimum of 6 people to departure from Marino Ballena National Park . The itinerary details: you get to our office at 6:30 am after complete the check-in a transport bring you to the departure point in Sierpe going by the Wetlands and then going by the Pacific Ocean to San Pedrillo Ranger Station!

Terraba-Sierpe Wetland is the habitat of numerous species of birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. This has become a refuge for wildlife. Its resident and migratory birds are the most frequent species. The aquatic fauna is made up of fish, mollusks, oysters and crustaceans. Mammals and crustaceans exist in less abundance and variety. Some outstanding species include: crocodiles and alligators, blue egret, white ibis and osprey, among others. 

After the tour the same transport bring you back to our office, dont have to worry about driving.
